Happy birthday dude, hope you had a good one last night and your head isn't too sore this morning!
Im currently nursing my poor hands - just fitted spacers to the rear wheels on my car and trapped the palms sharply as I pushed one back _________________ The Capture of Sarah Fingers - A BK Fanfic |

The student bar is generally priced pretty well and I've always found its a nice place to relax between lextures/labs. Its just a shame my course isn't as good. Phoenix wrote: I almost died when I walked into the Animation lab. Sooo many high performance PCs! And then they say they have another two of the labs!!! THEN I get a peak into the Mac Lab (Multimedia TV Lab)..... I almost died I'm pretty sure I know which building your course is in then as the computers in Poole House I have to put up with on my course are so old and slow they make my netbook look like a high-end gaming laptop. The network lab machines aren't too bad I guess, and we do have a Solaris PC room (although I've never used it). Then again, all we are expected to do are make a few simple programs that take up next to no resources, and create a few databases which again aren't too processor intensive, so why would they spend any money to allow us to spend less than 10 minutes logging in? _________________ http://www.thermalsoarer.com

I'll just stick to the desktop machine I'm using right now. I spent quite a lot of my student loan in the first year upgrading it, so its a lot better to work on then the uni PCs.
I just checked a virtual map on the uni website and yep, that is the building I was thinking of. I had a games lecture in there last year and I could see instantly that it was way better then anything we have without having to even set foot in a lab. _________________ http://www.thermalsoarer.com

Old and cheap computer > all
why? Simply because you can't make crap engine on them. Like making a game which requires a crysis level pc to run a COD one |

Just saying that mor and more programmers tend to forgot about optmisation.
You know, making a good looking game run on a crappy computer? I can run HL2 and fear almost maxed but can't run most recent games with crappier stuff And working on a crappy comp forces you to make something good edit: lurking on the Vidya and there's a BK thread with smart people argueing in it. Awesome, taking notes to see if the beta will still have the flaws said in there. Quote: Anonymous 11/14/10(Sun)21:29 No.78593XXX >>78592933 General consensus seems to be 60fps, fix controls, tighten physics, more intricate combat, increase difficulty a lot, reduce "lol xd so randum" humour. Maybe length too, but tbh that's a secondary concern for the genre, especially a budget title. Plus challenge makes the game last longer for most people. >> Anonymous 11/14/10(Sun)21:29 No.78593XXX >>78592933 Animation needs allot of work Get it up to 60 FPS and off this stupid cap Make combat freaking enjoyable instead of 'Hit X ALL DAY LONG'. Need more attacks, differences in blades, bosses you actually FIGHT ( the final boss for this game doesn't even count as it just tug and smack, then wait...wait...REPEAT ). Chances are more differences in stages, the same old pipe/stonewall/cave repeating blocks gets old rather fast. Make Stanama useful instead of a faux limit to running that doesn't even work right. |

I'm not going into what I've been doing the last few weeks. It's been very very bad.
Right now, heading off to wash the dishes, brew some tea and have a piece of carrot cake. _________________ Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right. |

Ok... I think i'll start drawing Kit Ballard for training.
Thanks for the support. I wanna work on games too, you know... But I prefer making comics and animation... xD If God wants, i'll be in a Visual Arts college in the future. ^^ And the thing I written in my design was: "Enter a soundbite here". If the translation is wierd, blame the Google Translator. _________________ ![]()

Been working for 2 days on a Perlin noise algo to generate maps and dynamic smoke/clouds.
After 10 half useless/completed tutorials i manage to make something http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/553/sanstitremw.jpg (yea i know it looks weird) If anyone actually knows how to make something decent with Perlin noise tell me, because there'so much useless exemples there and there that it's hard to see right |

I can use it to generate 3D terrain in C# + XNA (here is the tutorial I used if you're interested), but that is it. I didn't actually know what it was called or what other uses it has until I did a search to see what you mean just now. It definitely looks like something I'll check out when I get more time (got some Java coding to get done this week).
